About Wisdom Of the Word...

W.O.W. was founded in 1986 by Jeannie McCullough in Bethany, Oklahoma.  It began as a weekly Bible study at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, growing to over 400 members in its first year.  Then, women from other churches and the community began to join.  The local enrollment of W.O.W. later exceeded 1,000 and has included men, women, and children of all ages and from many denominations.  W.O.W. has been an instrument in uniting the community of believers as well as reaching the unchurched and the lost and is now ministering to thousands through videos and tapes and other program such as Children of the Word, prison ministries, and missions.

About the Name...

W.O.W. began as "Women of the Word."  Then, when men began to join in the study with the women, "Wisdom of the Word" was chosen.  The new name not only retains the identity as "W.O.W.," but it also reflects the mission of W.O.W.:

"To have our lives visibly changed by gaining wisdom from God's Word and responding in radical obedience to His voice."

The design of the logo emphasizes this name.  The symbols of the school pencil and exclamation point represent DISCIPLINE and DELIGHT.  It is when we discipline ourselves to study God's Word that we have the delight of the incredible discovery of God!

About Jeannie McCullough...

Jeannie McCullough is a pastor's wife, a mother, and a grandmother.  Her life and ministry have taken her to Bethany, Oklahoma, where her husband, Mel, is the Senior Pastor at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.  She understands firsthand how radical obedience to God's Word can change a life.

As Jeannie has committed herself to being a student of the Word, God has given her many opportunities to share what He is teaching her.  She was granted an honorary doctorate in 1997 from Southern Nazarene University.  She is in great demand as a speaker throughout North America due to her humor and honesty, as well as her unique insights and application of the Scriptures in daily living.  A goal in her life is to be a "salt tablet" to make others "thirsty" for God's Word.
